Early summer record heat in Sacramento

June 9, 2013

Sacramento recorded a high temperature of 108°F on Saturday, surpassing the previous record of 104°F set in 1974. Sacramento also set a record of 103°F on Friday, beating the old record of 102°F set in 1883. The average high temperature in Sacramento at this time of the year is 85°F. The satellite image below shows thunderstorms over the Sierra on Friday. An expected return of these storms on Sunday along with strong winds and dry conditions has prompted a fire weather watch for much of the region, including Yosemite National Park.
